Drive Concepts

A final look at the future of drive concepts shows that a mix of different energy supply and transmission systems will certainly continue for some time to come. Classical combustion engines exist next to hybrid vehicles or those with fully electrified drives, but hydrogen vehicles will also be increasingly accepted by customers in the future: This diversity and complexity must be mastered - not only in the further development and production of the components themselves, but also in the mass production of the vehicles.

In the end, the overall balance counts! Only if the overall balance of energy sources and carriers as well as the proportions of provision, vehicle production, use and, finally, disposal and recycling are known, can pollutant emissions and cumulative energy expenditure really be controlled. The various drive concepts and the associated respective production scenarios will continue to develop and lead to increasing complexity, which in turn will demand competence developments different from the past.
